URR Governor’s Residence & Office Complex

The GOTG has initiated to construct all Governors’ Residences nationwide. North Bank Region was constructed and currently, the URR Governor’s Residence and Office Complex in Basse, URR is being constructed. The progress of works is 50% since its commencement in July 2024. The project is costed at the sum GMD 59,377,874.40 and is expected to be completed in July 2026. Upon completion, this will improve governance and accessibility, economic development, enhanced public services among others.

The State House Multi-Purpose Sports Facility is 67% complete, covering rehabilitation works and the construction of new structures. The project, valued at D118 million, is being implemented through a delegated management contract with Gamworks. Independence Stadium Rehabilitation

The Rehabilitation of Independence Stadium has entered its third phase, and is expected to be finished by February 2026. Ongoing works are pitch restoration, safety upgrades, and new athletic tracks and the cost 83 million Dalasi. When complete, it will meet the requirement of FIFA and CAF, used for multi-purpose activities not limited to football matches, but also athletics, political events, concerts, national celebration among others. It can generate revenue for GOTG through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Following the liberal transport policy, The Gambia and Senegal have agreed to domesticate air services between the two countries. Both States have waived or significantly reduced passenger charges, greatly lowering travel costs. IATA has been notified, and the revised charges will be reflected in tickets. Gambians can expect the implementation of these measures soon, enhancing affordable and efficient air travel.

Infrastructure Improvement at Banjul International Airport

Government is working on an Airport Modernization Project which will see the construction of an ultramodern Passenger Terminal Building with other related airport infrastructure. This project is expected to be implemented through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) currently, the tender process is ongoing.
