Cycling
Bicycles are available for hire outside most of the resort hotels or in the craft markets. The hire rates are half-hourly, half day and full day at reasonable prices.
Swimming
Hotel beaches in The Gambia are generally safe for swimming, but always check the flags. Avoid swimming when the red flag is up, and note that nude bathing is prohibited.
Golf
The Fajara Club features an 18-hole golf course near popular resorts and offers various sports activities, including squash. Temporary memberships are also available.
Table Tennis
Available in most hotels and generally free of charge.
Tennis
Available at almost all the hotels, and at the Fajara Club, by prior arrangement. Racquets and tennis balls are also available at hotels where tennis is advertised.
Horse Stables
A couple of stables in the country have a good set of horses. Rides can be booked through your agent.
Jet Skiing
It is typically available at the Corinthia Atlantic Hotel, Sunbeach Hotel and Resort, and Denton Bridge. For other locations, consult your tour representative or hotel receptionist.
Windsurfing
Equipment can be hired at some hotels but it should be noted that that only strong swimmer should venture beyond their knees.
Leisure and Wellness
Casino
If you’re feeling lucky, visit Kololi Casino in the Senegambia area. A few other casinos are scattered throughout the Tourist Development Area(TDA), ask your hotel receptionist for more information.
Salons
Most hotels have beauty and hairdressing salons. There are many more outside the hotels, throughout the country.
Massage
Many hotels in The Gambia now offer massage facilities. If yours doesn’t, ask for the nearest option.
Hair braiding
Many tourists get their hair braided African style on the beach, with some adding colorful beads. Be sure to ask for the price upfront, as the process can take few hours.
Bird Watching & Fishing
The Gambia, with 560 bird species across protected reserves, is committed to eco-tourism and wildlife conservation. Key sites include Abuko Nature Reserve, Tanji, and Kiang West. Daily bird-watching tours showcase its rich avian diversity, making the country an accessible paradise for bird enthusiasts.
